Air cargo could triple by 2031

Dubai, UAE: Demand for fresh food in emerging regions could help triple air freight traffic over the next 20 years, according to the Airbus 2010-2030 Cargo Global Market Forecast.

It believes that the tripling of air freight traffic will lead to a near doubling of the world-wide cargo aircraft fleet.

“Air cargo’s development is being driven by emerging regions, where population migration and middle class growth creates the demand for food and other perishables,” said Airbus senior vice president Christopher Emerson at the Dubai Airshow.
