Market Drayton, UK: The Wool Packaging Company has awarded Manchester logistics firm AKW a contract to produce and distribute Woolcool — its insulated packaging cold chain product. The sustainable, biodegradable Woolcool can be used as an alternative to polystyrene and polyethylene for distributing temperature sensitive goods, such as fresh or frozen foods, and pharmaceuticals.
The specialist contract packing division of AKW takes naturally washed wool fleeces, packs them into branded recyclable polyethylene food-grade film pockets and then seals them.
AKW holds the components for Woolcool on site at a warehouse in Trafford Park. Following production, AKW also distributes the product through its transport business, AK Worthington.
