Arkas takes Carrier PrimeLine

Syracuse, NY, US: Turkish shipping line Arkas Shipping and Transport has doubled its refrigerated container fleet acquiring 1,800, 40ft containers all with Carrier Transicold PrimeLine units.

Reduced environmental impact was a core requirement for the specification says Friksos Rothman, assistant manager, Reefer Container Technical Services, Arkas Holding.

“Arkas contributes to the protection of the environment by making well-directed choices.  From that perspective, Carrier’s PrimeLine was our only choice – a better-performing unit that results in lower emissions related to shipboard power generation,” Rothman said.

The PrimeLine unit’s efficiency enables Arkas to fit more reefer containers onto fleet vessels and in terminals without requiring infrastructure upgrades, Rothman says.

John Mandyck, chief sustainability officer, UTC Climate, Controls & Security Systems of which Carrier Transicold is part, says: “The PrimeLine unit represents a continuation of Carrier Transicold’s commitment to incorporating sustainability into its product portfolio, giving customers

such as Arkas, opportunities to increase quality while lowering carbon emissions and operating costs.”

Arkas Shipping and Transport provides transport mainly in the Black Sea and Mediterranean.
