Peterborough, UK: Chiltern Cold Storage has expanded its site by adding 1,858sq metres of ambient storage in a new warehouse to provide an extra 3,500 pallet spaces.
The group was granted a £1.3m loan by Barclays to enable it to extend and amalgamate its on site storage, according to the Peterborough Telegraph.
The Peterborough warehouse originally provided 12,500 pallets of frozen capacity, 1,500 of chilled and 4,000 pallets of ambient.
Managing director Paul Jackson said that the decision to extend was made after Chiltern secured a number of new contracts. Jackson told the Peterborough Times that the new storage will allow the group to amalgamate all its processing and storage on one site.
“It had long been my ambition to add a purpose built ambient warehouse to the site,” said Jackson.
“For us this is the final piece of the jigsaw giving us complete frozen, chilled and ambient facilities all on one site.”
