Conference focuses on pharmaceutical cold chain

Paris, France:  Pharmapack Europe, a conference and exhibition, is holding a technical symposium on tertiary packaging and temperature-controlled transport of medicines.

The conference, which takes place on 15-16 February 2012 at the Grande Halle de la Villette, Paris, is tackling the challenges of the pharmaceutical supply chain for the first time.

A day dedicated to the pharmaceutical cold chain will be based on two themed sessions: “Regulatory Update and New Challenges” and “Technologies Update”.  The morning session will take a very practical approach to dealing with the complexities of implementing a pharmaceutical cold chain in compliance with regulatory requirements, future changes to regulations and the impact of this on the pharmaceutical logistics chain.

The second session of the meeting will give the show’s visitors the opportunity to discover innovative materials that will improve the performance of tertiary packaging for medicines and health products.  There will also be a presentation of technologies enabling better control of the cold chain.

Jean-Claude Vogler, managing director of PharmD and chief executive of Inressa Pharma, says: “For an efficient cold chain, it is important to have technological solutions that enable you to effectively keep the product within the temperature ranges required for its preservation.  Nonetheless, management of the people involved throughout the chain is just as important, because regardless of how good a technology’s performance may be, it is useless if it is not applied under the right conditions.”
