CryoPort opens European operations centre

Leiden, Netherlands: CryoPort has signed an agreement with MediRent BV to open, within the next few months, a European base in Leiden, Netherlands.

MediRent, which provides rental and logistics services for clinical trials, will provide services for the CryoPort’s express dry shipping solution, including warehousing, shipping, receiving, refurbishing and recycling of the CryoPort shipping containers, as well as order entry and fulfilment, and client support.

Larry Stambaugh, CryoPort’s chairman and chief executive says, “Opening an operations centre in Europe is a significant commercial milestone for CryoPort, and MediRent is the perfect partner to help us meet the demands of this market,” Contracting with an established partner is a “very cost-effective way to initiate operations in Europe, and to scale up as our business grows throughout the region” he says.

Jeroen Kok, chief executive officer of MediRent says, “CryoPort’s strategy of providing customers a turnkey operation is very similar to our business philosophy, and their frozen shipping solution integrates easily with the services we currently offer to the leading clinical labs and research organizations in Europe.

CryoPort provides cold chain logistics services using liquid nitrogen based dry-vapour shipping system that maintains a constant -150 C for a minimum 10 days. It uses recyclable and reusable components to provide an environmentally friendly transport solution.
