Dalian, China: Dalian Zhangzidao Fishery Group, Tokyo-based Chuo Gyorui Co and Hohsui Corp will build the largest single cold storage facility for marine products in Northeast Asia.
The 180m yuan facility in Dalian will have a capacity of 500,000 tonnes and an annual throughput of 200,000 tons. Dalian’s current 300,000 tonne capacity cold store cannot handle the 600,000 tonnes of imported marine products now coming to the area. Dalian is located near Huanghai Sea and Bohai Sea, a major fish producing area in Northeast Asia.
With the increase in China’s marine products consumption, the storage quality and management standards of cold storage facilities must conform to international standards, the fishery group stated.
