Envirotainer expands into Asia Pacific pharmaceutical market

Singapore: Swedish cold chain container company Envirotainer has opened a new branch in Singapore to gain more access to the Asia Pacific pharmaceutical market.

Envirotainer chief executive Gustaf Ljunggren says that Asia Pacific is currently the world’s fastest growing pharmaceuticals market.

“Asia Pacific is expected to grow by 97% and account for 29% of global pharma sales by 2016,” Ljunggren says. The Asia Pacific region is expected to see substantial growth in the coming years due to changing market conditions and access to lower cost manufacturing,  he adds.

“The new Singapore office will improve access to Envirotainer’s active temperature-controlled air cargo containers and cold chain management services in the region,” he says. He adds Singapore has become an important biopharma, medical, and logistics hub in the Asia Pacific region with major companies in the sector building strong commercial, manufacturing, distribution and warehouse presences.

Ljunggren says Envirotainer’s increased investment in Asia is part of a strategy to be a market leader for temperature-controlled containers in the region and to build on its partnerships with healthcare companies and their local airline and logistics providers.

In the Asia Pacific region, Envirotainer collaborates with leading airlines and forwarders to move temperature-sensitive products inter and intra continent.  “Australia and Japan are also showing promising growth, and the pharmaceutical industries in South Korea, China and India are also developing rapidly,” he says.
