Woking, Surrey, UK: The fourth quarter of 2011 saw a further drop in European road freight charges, according to Transporeon and Capgemini Consulting’s latest “Transport Market Monitor” report.
The main factor behind the fall seems to have been over-capacity at the end of the year. Although there was strong demand for road freight at the beginning of 2011, a deterioration in the market meant that haulage capacity remained available and this appears to have sparked the drop in rates.
