Gist signs supply chain partnership with Starbucks

Basingstoke, UK: Gist is to provide consolidate daily deliveries of ambient and chilled products to Starbucks British and Irish stores.

Starbucks hopes to significantly reduce the number of store deliveries, cut operational costs, increase flexibility and improve environmental performance as a result of the deal. The partnership, described as “long term”, is expected to halve the number of deliveries to each Starbucks store.

Individual store orders will be picked and delivered to Starbucks’ 700 locations in the UK and Ireland using Gist’s temperature-controlled distribution network.

Philippe de Grivel, director of supply chain operations at Starbucks UK & Ireland, says: “Our new partnership with Gist will significantly enhance the agility, flexibility and overall performance of our end to end supply chain.”

Gist chief executive Martin Gwynn, says: “Consolidating three supply chains into one efficient operation will enable Starbucks to extract the best from their supply chain on an ongoing basis; improve the speed with which they can bring new products to market and increasing the supply chain flexibility required to manage their dynamic business even more effectively.”
