Greencell switches to Jungheinrich

Spalding, UK:  Greencell, a specialist fresh fruit and vegetable supplier has upgraded the materials handling equipment at its Spalding distribution centre with a new fleet of counterbalanced forklifts and powered pallet trucks from Jungheinrich.

The distribution centre, that includes Greencell’s Packhouse and Warehouse operations, comprises conventional and organic packhouses plus a 1,000 pallet capacity chilled warehouse.

The trucks – six counterbalance machines from the Jungheinrich EFG 2 Series and three ERE 120 stand- on powered pallet trucks – are used to unload incoming containers and trailers and deliver stock to the chilled warehouses where they are stored at between 1 to 5°C prior to picking, packing and delivery to supermarkets and other retail outlets.

One of the key drivers behind Greencell’s switch to Jungheinrich was the EFG 2 Series’ low battery consumption.  Fourth generation AC technology allows the counterbalanced trucks to operate for two shifts at Greencell without the need for a battery change.  The trucks suit for indoor and outdoor tasks work.

The powered pallet trucks specified by Greencell have 3-phase AC drive motors for performance and Jungheinrich’s Curve Control for better safety when cornering.
