Grocery lead times will fall

Watford, Herts, UK: Six out of ten grocery retailers believe that lead times will reduce by up to one day over the next five years, according to research by IGD Supply Chain Analysis.

The survey revealed that 55% of manufacturers agree that lead times will fall.

Another finding from the survey was that 54% of retailers predict that order frequency will increase by 2016 while 67% of manufacturers believe this will happen.

“Retailers are cutting their inventories by holding stock in fewer locations, with each serving more stores,” said Tarun Patel, head of supply chain analysis, at the IGD.
