Whitchurch, Shropshire, UK: Grocontinental is to increase its frozen storage capacity by 13,000 pallets with the construction of a new 4,000 square metre warehouse.
Work is already underway on the new £5m warehouse with an anticipated completion date of April 2013.

Family-run Grocontinental has continued to invest heavily in the construction of new facilities and the purchase of the latest vehicles to the tune of almost £15 million in the last five years. Further investment and plans for growth remain at the centre of the company’s strategic planning.
Earlier in the year the company opened a new ambient store accommodating 8,000 pallets of dry goods and installed five new ammonia-based blast freezers bringing the total daily freezing capacity up to 360 tonnes.
The new warehouse will bring the company’s total storage capacity up to 143,000 pallet spaces and will be used to store food at a temperature of as low as minus 28 degrees.
Joint managing director David Grocott says: “We are continuing to invest in the best state-of-the-art facilities. We have seized the opportunity to increase our frozen storage capacity and anticipate filling the warehouse shortly after completion.
“Our proactive investment programme has really worked for us in combination with establishing close working relationships with our customers to develop tailor-made logistics solutions and specialist services to meet their needs.”
Grocontinental operates from a 24/7 30-acre site in Whitchurch, Shropshire and works with some of the world’s biggest food industry brands.
