Lurgan, Co Armagh, Northern Ireland: Hannon Transport has added 20 new reefers to its fleet to meet the work load from new contracts.
Hannon imports fresh flowers and plants from the continent Europe and says the business is growing annually by up to 30%.
The new trailers, from Schmitz Cargobull, are high-volume, European specification trailers with an internal width of 2.49m and a height of 2.7m, enabling maximum load fill of pallets and enough horizontal space to minimise the risk of damage to fragile cargo.
The trailers use Vector 1850 MT refrigeration units from Carrier Transicold, allowing for mono and multi-temperature operation – particularly important when transporting cut and potted flowers which require differing storage temperatures.
The trailers will operate from Hannon’s new distribution centre in Dublin, where they will be used to deliver products to major supermarkets, wholesalers and garden centres throughout the whole of Ireland, as well as carrying out general groupage operations to and from the continent.

Hannon Transport has 70 trucks, 130 trailers and 20 rigids. The 20 new additional reefers are expected to remain on the fleet for a minimum of seven years.
