Hanson Logistics expands frozen food consolidation and distribution centre

Hobart, IN, US: Hanson Logistics has started on the third phase of expansion at its temperature-controlled Chicago Consolidation Center, according to a statement from the company.

“This third expansion in five years will provide more space for our growing Velocities Multi-Vendor Consolidation program, a solution for food manufacturers who need to consolidate multiple frozen food orders shipping to major retail, wholesale, and foodservice distribution centers throughout the US,” said a company statement.

The 9,280 square metre expansion is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2013. It will feature energy saving LED lighting, 12,000 new pallet positions and swing-in dock doors for more efficient loading times and increased food security.

The Chicago Consolidation Center includes -20F ice cream space, flexible racking for quick-pick consolidation, and refrigerated cross-dock staging for temperature-controlled food products.

Hanson Transportation Management Services and refrigerated truck fleet provides inbound, shuttle services and nationwide truckload and less-than-truckload services.
