Insulated curtainsiders for bread round

Melton Mowbray. Leicestershire, UK: The logistics arm Samworth Brothers has taken delivery of its first insulated curtainsiders.

Twelve Montracon Insuliners have replaced refrigerated box trailers to handle the movement of product from local bakeries to the group’s Leicestershire distribution centre for consolidation and delivery to retailers.

Graeme Hawker, fleet manager, Samworth Brothers Distribution, said: “This is a double first for us:  its the first time we have used insulated curtainsiders and it’s the first time we have bought Montracon.”

“The Insuliners, with Carrier Vector 1550 fridges, are proving a far more cost effective solution for this particular chilled service where short delivery cycles, on average of less than an hour, are typical.”

“We approached a number of trailer manufacturers. We chose Montracon because they were not only more aware of and sympathetic to our operational needs, but also because of the considerable experience they have in the design and development of these specialist trailers,” he says.
