Integral tail-lift cuts weight

Altrincham, Cheshire, UK: Trailer builder Cartwright has developed a 2-tonne capacity tail-lift that is integral with the rear frame of the trailer.  The design integrates the back frame and tail-lift to eliminate duplicate components and so reduce the trailer’s unladen weight.

The new tail-lift can be integrated with all Cartwright’s trailer designs, including reefers and double deckers, and is already being operated by some high street retailers.

Steven Cartwrigh, director at the company says: “This is a revolutionary new tail-lift design from Cartwright and is yet another innovation from our experienced design team that is pushing back the boundaries for the benefit of our customers.

“Its integral design offers many benefits including being more user friendly, operational efficiency, reduced damage and weight savings, improving carbon footprint.”

The design also dispenses with a conventional wander-led control, using a fixed control that travels with the lift. This reduces the potential for damage, particularly between the wires and platform, says Cartwright. Repair and maintenance costs will be a lot less when compared to traditional tail-lifts, he says.
