Bridgwater, Somerset, UK: Temperature-controlled logistics provider Langdons has received its first long trailer after being approved by the Department for Transport to conduct a ten year trial using 14.6 metre long refrigerated trailers.
The trailer can carry 28 UK-sized pallets or 35 euro pallets. The extra pallet capacity will reduce Langdons carbon footprint by 4.4-tonnes of carbon dioxide per trailer per year.
The trailer, built by Gray and Adams, is to a high specifications says Tyrone Lanaway, engineering manager at Langdons.

A further seven trailers, all to this specification, will join the Langdons fleet over the coming months, he says.
All drivers pulling one of these trial trailers require special training which will be conducted by Langdons in-house training team, Lanaway says.
