Loading dock cuts temperature loss and contamination

Dublin, Ireland: Engineering firm MCR has developed a new loading bay specifically for the meat processing and food processing industry, designed to eliminate contamination and reduce temperature loss at loading bays while loading/unloading goods, including raw meat and carcasses.

The Esidock forms an “environmental seal” around the rear of the vehicle before the rear doors of the trailer are opened, preventing any form of contamination from entering the cargo. MCR says that the new product is being well received by food processing companies in Ireland.

“The largest meat processors in Ireland have identified that contamination and temperature control is an issue, and have ordered units to solve what is a very large and costly problem,” says a spokesman for MCR.

“In fact, the feedback from the industry as a whole is that contamination at loading/unloading phase is one of the largest causes of goods write-off, and the MCR Esidock is the only product on the market which eliminates this problem for the end-user,” says the spokesman.

“Customers expressed the view that this product will become standard for all loading bays in a short period and it is the only way to prevent failure of quality audits, and to prevent contamination of goods at loading/unloading phase.”

MCR points out that the supply chain process of moving raw meat carcasses from slaughter house to trailer, from trailer to processing facility and again to distribution/cold store distribution cannot guarantee that the load is contamination-free.

Esidock can be used in cold store/freezer environments. “Where the chilled vehicle is unloading into a cold store, there is a large energy loss when the building insulated doors are opened and the temperature loss is significant,” says the MCR spokesman. “The Esidock will reduce this temperature loss and so reduce your energy costs and show significant energy savings, while at the same time ensuring no external contamination and temperature control.”
