Marten Transport posts record results

Modovi, WI, US: Marten Transport reported its highest net income for any quarter and year. Net income was up 12.3% in 2012 to a US$27.3m from $24.3m.

Net income for the fourth quarter of 2012 increased to $7,719,000 from $7,663,000 year on year.
Operating revenue from truckload and logistics operations increased to $166.4m in the fourth quarter last year from $158.3m in the fourth quarter of 2011, and increased to $638.5m in 2012 from $603.7m in 2011.

Operating revenue, net of fuel surcharges, increased 4.1% to $134.2m in the 2012 quarter from $128.8m in the 2011 quarter, and increased 5.4% to $517.3m in 2012 from $490.7m in 2011.

Fuel surcharge revenue increased to $32.2m for the fourth quarter of 2012 from $29.5m in the 2011 quarter, and increased to $121.1 million for 2012 from $113.0 million in 2011.

Operating expenses as a percentage of operating revenue, with both amounts net of fuel surcharge revenue, increased slightly to 90.2% for the fourth quarter of 2012 from 89.9% for the fourth quarter of 2011, and improved to 91.1% for 2012 from 91.2% for 2011.
