Plainfield, Ind, US: Third party logistics provider, MD Logistics has expanded its operations with a 5,000sq metre temperature-controlled warehouse in Reno, Nevada.
This facility will operate as an FDA registered, pharmaceutical grade warehouse, adhering to cGMP compliance. Capabilities will include controlled room temperature and cold chain storage and distribution services, the company says.
MDL operates two facilities used for retail and pharmaceutical goods distribution in Plainfield, Indiana. MDL’s facilities are within a 24-hour drive of 80% of the US population with the Reno distribution centre. President of MDL, Mark Sell says: “MD Logistics’ new state of the art Reno distribution site will allow us to continue to improve our supply chain execution, by providing improved efficiencies for the expanding west coast customer base. With the addition of our Reno facility, we provide our growing pharmaceutical cold chain and retail clients both contingency and cost savings.”
“Reno offers an excellent strategic location, a readily available work force and a cost effective business climate. It will allow us to continue to grow with both our existing customer base as well as attract new opportunities that require west coast distribution services and expertise.”
MDL has relocated a key group of managers to get the Reno facility running and will have the facility fully staffed in 2012. Reno was chosen for its multi modal transport infrastructure proximity to large west coast markets. Sell said: “Reno offers an excellent strategic location, a readily available work force and a cost effective business climate. It will allow us to continue to grow with both our existing customer base as well as attract new opportunities that require west coast distribution services and expertise.”
Adding to their 3PL service offerings, MDL will continue its strategic partnership with global freight forwarding partner Seko Worldwide, and will be operating Seko Worldwide-Reno out of this facility.
