Oss, Netherlands: Logistics firm Movianto Nederland is building a new state-of-the-art warehouse for the storage of deep-frozen pharmaceutical products – understood to be one of the largest of its kind in Europe.
The new warehouse, which will be operational by April 2012, will provide a range of new facilities such as a deep frozen storage area (< -20 ºC).This area has a capacity for 350 pallets which can be used for storing blood plasma products, for example. Movianto in the Netherlands will be expanding its ambient and cold chain pallet capacity extensively and will move into this warehouse as soon as it is completed.
The 13,000 square metre GDP compliant warehouse encompasses 21,000 temperature controlled pallet places including 17,700 in the area of ambient (+15 ºC – +25 ºC), 2,200 chilled pallet locations (+2ºC – +8 ºC), and 1,100 pallets for narcotics. A mezzanine with 1,300 square metres has also been included to provide clients with repackaging and relabelling service according to GMP guidelines.
The expanded storage capacity and the strategically important geographical location in Oss will serve as a central European warehouse with a dedicated cross docking area and bonded warehouse facility. Movianto’s transport solution manages freight and distributes the products to local warehouses throughout the whole of Europe.
