No role for bio fuels in low carbon transport

London, UK: The chief executive of the Committee on Climate Change, David Kennedy has dismissed any significant role for bio fuels as a route to low carbon transport.

Kennedy’s comment that “There was not a big role for bio fuels in low carbon transport,” has dealt the fledgling industry a severe blow. Speaking at the LowCVP (Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership) conference last week said the idea was finished in terms of low carbon transport.

Kennedy’s comments echo government views towards bio fuels.  The UK government closed the Renewable Fuels Agency in March this year.  Initial European government enthusiasm for bio-fuels has waned because of the their effect driving up food grain prices, especially in third world countries.
