Nova Scotia, Canada: Nova Cold Storage is building a $9.5-million cold storage warehouse at the Atlantic Gateway-Halifax Logistics Park.
Nova Cold is expanding to accommodate its frozen-fish and processed-food storage business, which serves processors, exporters and freight forwarders.
The 5,500sq metre cold-storage, transloading facility is in Dartmouth and houses 5,500 pallets.
Nova Cold Store president Barry Smith said the new facility doubles pallet capacity of its existing cold storage space on Thornhill Drive, which will be closed.
“Our new facility will exclusively offer companies 100% cold-chain security because the loading bay doors are constructed to open inwards so trailers and containers can be loaded and sealed inside 50-foot refrigerated docks,” he said.
The company’s new facility will be the first full-service, refrigerated and frozen food centre in the Logisitics Park, near the Port of Halifax, Halifax Stanfield International Airport rail intermodal yard.
