Preferred Freezer Services expands in China

Chatham, NJ, US: Preferred Freezer Services is to target China for growth of temperature controlled transport services.

Preferred Freezer Services, which designs, builds and operates temperature-controlled warehouses, plans to have 14 locations in China. The targeted cities include Beijing, Tianjin, Shenzhen and Shanghai.

Two fully automated 44,000sq metre facilities in Shanghai at Lingang Logistics Park and Wai Gao Qiao are due to open later this year.

Tim McLellan, managing director, International Business Development, Preferred Freezer Services says: “Current PFS customers in the US who value our business model are delighted to know they can expand into China and receive the same dedicated first-class service and premium quality cold chain solutions to fulfil their China business needs.

“Even more important, are the domestic Chinese companies who understand Preferred Freezer Services commitment to building and managing state-of-the-art temperature-controlled warehouses and how valuable our model will be to helping China meet its demands for properly-handled food products.”

A report by McKinsey Global Institute (11 March 2011) said that China accounts for nine of the ten urban areas that will experience the highest GDP growth from 2007 to 2025. Given China’s forecasted economic growth figures, there is an increasing demand for safe handling and overall higher food quality. This includes import and export of prepared and frozen convenience foods.
