Telford, Shropshire, UK: Thermal insulation product company Seymour Manufacturing International (SMI) says it has started 2012 with a better than expected response to its Cold-Korner, versatile chilled space solution.
Launched in autumn 2011, the Cold-Korner was developed to answer a long- standing demand for quick, competitively priced chilled space solutions in confined areas. Designed to be quick and easy to install at all floor levels within just a three to four hour timeframe, it was anticipated that the Cold-Korner would be particularly of interest to food retailers in town centre locations with limited permanent cold storage space.
SMI chairman, Brian Seymour, says: “When we launched the Cold-Korner I expected the bulk of enquiries to come from town centre retailers who lack permanent chilled space. It was a surprise, therefore, to see that in joint first place were enquiries from bakery outlets, and the hotel and catering industry. Fast food outlets and florists tied for third in the list of initial enquiries and orders.
The chill source in a Cold-Korner is via a 13 amp evaporator with fast draw down that achieves 2 degrees Celsius in approximately 15-20 minutes depending upon the ambient temperature. The curtained unit that hangs from a modular thermal roof provides nearly 6m of chilled space and can be turned off when not in use allowing the same area to be used for other, non-chilled, storage. A range of larger modular Cold-Korner units is available and when enhanced with SMI’s Track-Rack shelving, can achieve maximum storage space.
Seymour adds: “To witness the growing range of industries choosing the Cold-Korner option is gratifying given the research and development that goes in to all SMI products. We hope and expect to see this range of sectors grow throughout 2012.”
