Shanghai’s truck drivers protest over high fuel prices

Shanghai, China: Truck drivers are holding a three-day protest against rising fees and fuel prices at China’s busiest ports.

Hundreds of truck drivers from the Shanghai, protesting against inflation driven rises in fuel costs, barricaded a shipping dock in Shanghai today preventing vehicles carrying cargo entering the port, reports Associated Press

At Baoshan port a small number of truck drivers were arrested as they tried to overturn a car. During the incident some truck drivers smashed windscreens of trucks belonging to drivers who refused to join the protest.

At Yangshan port, also part of Shanghai, 500 truck drivers have converged to take part in the protest, says OfficialWire Bureau.
