Rueil-Malmaison, France: Sofrigam, a French supplier and manufacturer of temperature-controlled packaging has launched a new website to promote it products in the UK.
Coldshop.com is a refrigerant packaging and accessories e-commerce website aimed at trade and pharmaceutical industry buyers as well as the general public. “The website is a catalogue of more than 100 professional-grade insulated packaging systems and gel packs from the leader in cold-chain technology; all our products are laboratory-tested and delivered to your doorstep,” the company says.
“Coldshop.com is more than just a place to make an online purchase,” says Laetitia Perche, marketing director, Sofrigam. “The packaging products one will find there have been developed and extensively tested by an approved laboratory, and more. They have been in use in most cases for about 20 years already, with some of the biggest in the pharma sector,” she says.
“All the packaging comes with clear guidelines for use and a temperature behaviour cert; the lab approval reports for each item are available on request.”
Coldshop.com has been online in France for 10 years at www.laboutiquedufroid.com. Sofrigam plans to target the US market later.
Sofrigam aims to extend the market for temperature packaging further down the distribution channel to include end-consumers. “The need to maintain temperatures whether ambient, cool or frozen is no longer just the preoccupation of the big pharma, chemical or food production sites; it has become everyone’s concern all down the chain through the logistics and distribution networks to the end users; with tighter regulations and more extended deliveries,” Perche says.
“The big questions are around how to guarantee to your customers that the product you are delivering to them is indeed guaranteed to have travelled at the required temperature? How do you demonstrate to the health authorities that the packaging systems you use meet the regulations? How do you ensure the quality of your delivered products when you may not have cold chain expertise in-house?” she says.
As well as making and supplying packaging, Sofrigam provides clients with training to ensure compliance with cold chain regulation and help with packaging design.
The website details the Sofrigam product range that includes small pouches for home use, packaging from 1 to 3,000 litres and up to pallet-size packaging for road air and sea transport. The packaging uses eutectic gels, cleared for air transport and suitable for food and pharma goods.
