Somers expand Direct Air Cover range to cover Carrier Xarios systems

Long Stratton, Norfolk, UK: Somers has extended its Direct Air Cover range with a unit designed for the Carrier Transicold Xarios 300 and 350 range of refrigeration systems.

Initially designed for certain GAH and Hubbard direct drive systems, the Somers Direct Air Cover range now incorporates newly introduced models for the Carrier Transicold Xarios range.

Chris Berridge, managing director of Paneltex, the parent company of Somers, says, “This development is a natural extension to the success of the initial direct air covers we first introduced as we are now fitting more Carrier Transicold Xarios systems each year, including an increasing number for overseas customers who favour the Carrier Transicold brand for operations in Europe.”

Available for both Mercedes Sprinter and VW Crafter high roof vans, the patented Somers Direct Air System utilises the airflow over the windscreen of the vehicle, accelerating it to improve the performance of the refrigeration system by up to 15%.

An air management feature allows more air to enter from additional ducts when the vehicle is stationary. By improving the airflow around the condenser, this potential improvement in refrigeration unit performance not only helps reduce fuel consumption but also reduces refrigeration system wear and CO2 emissions, the company says.

Designed, tested and proven by Somers at its manufacturing facility in Norfolk, the stylish design of the new Somers Direct Air System Covers smoothly integrates the Xarios refrigeration unit into the front of the vehicle roof, complimenting the overall vehicle exterior styling, as well as generating a natural increase in performance and fuel economy.
