Stobart drivers to go on strike

Dublin, Ireland: Irish union Siptu last night insisted that strike action at transport company Stobart Ireland will go ahead as planned tomorrow despite an independent ballot claiming only a minority of drivers backed it.

The union accused the company of refusing to discuss workers’ grievances over excessive working hours and health and safety issues.

Stobart does deliveries for Tesco supermarkets.  The strike action will take place from 6am tomorrow to 6pm on Friday.
