Santa Clara, CA, US: A pilot project with a major berry producer confirmed the importance and value of monitoring the temperature of fresh fruit at the pallet-level from harvest in Mexico to delivery in the USA.
The results were compelling and confirmed the impact of temperature on shelf life and quality, says Kevin Payne, senior director of marketing at Intelleflex, which supplied the monitoring equipment. “It confirmed the importance and value of monitoring the temperature of fresh produce at the pallet-level to ensure delivered freshness and reduce shrink,” he says.
A webinar is available that features the detailed case study from the project as well as analysis and commentary from Peter Mehring, Intelleflex chief executive, Dr Jean-Pierre Emond of the University of South Florida, and Elizabeth Bronger-Jones of The Hartford Financial Group.
“The study shows how on-demand data visibility can improve operations from field to packing house, in pre-cool and quality control and in transit to your distribution centre,” says Payne.
