Storage firm helping to bring festive support to homeless

Peterborough, UK: Chiltern Cold Storage Group is supporting Crisis, the homeless charity, with its Crisis At Christmas Campaign this year.

The charity runs nine Christmas Centres in London between 23 and 30 December that offer companionship, hot meals and warmth as well as other services designed to help those who are homeless or those who are living in hostel accommodation get off the street.

Chiltern Cold Storage Group is helping the charity by providing storage and transport to bring fresh and chilled food to each of the nine centres so they can provide three hot and nutritious meals a day while they are open.

Shelly Bullard, from Chiltern, said: “Being involved in providing a Christmas dinner for so many homeless and vulnerable people is extremely rewarding.

“While we celebrate the lives changed, help is needed more than ever to end homelessness and Chiltern will continue to support Crisis and the wonderful work they do.”

The Crisis At Christmas Campaign is now in its 40th year and this year, the demand for the service is expected to be very high given the harsh economic climate and poor outlook for homeless people.

Neil Kennedy, from Crisis, said Chiltern’s “contribution over the past five years has been absolutely critical for the success of the operation and to make possible the pioneering Crisis’ services that genuinely change lives.”
