Thermo King offers microchannel coils on T-Series

Brussels, Belgium: Thermo King offers microchannel coils as standard on its class-leading T-Series nose-mount temperature control units.

The microchannel coil replaces the copper and aluminum tube-and-fin condenser coils on all units in the range.

Microchannel coils have been used in the automotive industry for a number of years and Thermo King is the first manufacturer to apply this technology to nose-mounted diesel powered refrigeration systems.

The T-Series from Thermo King are self-powered temperature control units for 5.5 to 9.5-metre rigid trucks.
The upgraded units provide reduced lifetime cost of ownership, lower weight, greater fuel efficiency and increased capacity and overall sustainability, the company says.

“Enhanced in response to customer feedback, the upgraded solution features a 2.5% weight decrease and a capacity increase of up to 15%. Overall system efficiency has improved by up to 21% while reducing refrigerant charge by as much as 28%, making it the segment’s lowest refrigerant charge,” says Thermo King.

“Refrigeration capacity for the T-1000R refrigeration unit has also increased by 15% at fresh Agreement for Perishable Transport (ATP) conditions while offering the segment’s lowest fuel consumption. “Similarly, refrigeration capacity for the T-1200R unit has increased by 9% for fresh ATP conditions, making it one of the highest refrigeration capacity units in the industry,” it says.

“The enhanced T-Series units provide the industry leading performance on which customers have come to depend upon while reducing costs and increasing overall efficiency and sustainability,” said Pascal Richard, transport product leader for Thermo King in the Europe, Middle East, India and Africa (EMEIA) region of Ingersoll Rand. “The reduced refrigerant charge also supports our customers’ commitment to increased environmental stewardship.”

The T-Series range of units has been designed to be used in a variety of applications from urban food distribution to specialty high-value medical and pharmaceutical transportation. It is ideal for short to medium haul transport, such as daily deliveries into the city for local grocery stores, dairy transport and other perishable products.
