London, UK: Transport for London (TfL) has issued a freight bulletin with up-to-date news about the Olympic Games and transport.
The main highlights for today – the opening ceremony of the Olympics – are:
- There will be delays on roads on or close to the Torch Relay route. Roads in central London will be exceptionally busy and Stratford will be very busy later on in the day for the Olympic Opening Ceremony. Avoid driving near to the Torch Relay.
- The Olympic Route Network (ORN )is now in operation and being enforced from 06:00 to 00:00 every day, including no stopping or loading along 109-mile route in London. As with previous days certain Games Lanes may operate flexibly and this will be indicated on the Variable Messaging Signs (VMS). Don’t get caught out, warns TfL. If you drive or park in an operational Games Lane you could get a £130 fine or your vehicle could be removed.
- Those making out-of-hours deliveries are advised to be aware of pedestrians in the carriageway at night enjoying the celebrations. Care should be taken to drive and manoeuvre accordingly as visitors to London may not be familiar with the British roads and signalling systems.

Key locations and routes into central London are already experiencing congestion and will continue to be exceptionally busy so should be avoided where possible, says TfL. This includes:

- A40
- A12
- A13
- A2

TfL says that freight operators should ensure they are ready for the Olympic Road Cycling races on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 July. Central London and Surrey will be exceptionally busy.
