Istanbul, Turkey: Theo van Sambeeck, director of the European Division of the Global Cold Chain Alliance visited Istanbul earlier this month to discuss the foundation of a Turkish national cold chain association.
He met with representatives from frozen food producers Unilever and Danone, retailer Migros, Pfizer pharmaceuticals, cold solutions specialist Deisko, and logistic service provider Frigolog, who all support this initiative to strengthen the Turkish cold chain.
Turkey has an estimated cold store capacity of 400,000 cubic metres, and there is an acute lack of cold storage, especially in Istanbul with is 16m population.
