Commercial Body Fittings, UK supplier of commercial vehicle body building hardware, has gained type approval for its ASGK990 series side guards.
The range now meets the requirements of Regulation 73, the European directive for lateral protection devices.
“With the impending Whole Vehicle Type Approval (WVTA) Directive, CBF has been working with the VCA to acquire a conforming E marking for their ASGK990 series,” the company says.

“After a process of stringent tests, the approval was granted for fitment to the following vehicle categories: N2, N3, O3, O4,”
Mark Negri, managing director, Commercial Body Fittings, says: “It’s a great asset to us to have been granted this approval. Our side-guards are already widely used throughout the industry.
“All legs are fully hot-dip galvanized and offer great resistance to corrosion, coupled with anodised aluminium rail and pedestrian guards.
“Customers can now buy an ‘off-the shelf’ compliant system to meet the requirements of WVTA. Although our initial stock will not be available until August 2012, we have approval certification and mounting instructions readily available, which will aid our customers in applying for one of the WVTA directive routes,” he says.
