UK frozen food sales grow

London, UK: Retail sales of frozen food in the UK have risen for the third consecutive quarter, according to the British Frozen Food Federation.

It cites increasing popularity of frozen fish and a recovery in frozen meat, as consumers look for better value options. Data from the federation shows that the sector overall grew by 3.6% in value for the year to 4 September 2011.

The biggest jump in volume sales, of 4.1%, was seen in the frozen fish segment. Brian Young director general, British Frozen Food Federation said that big brands’ inputs had strengthened the category through a mixture of premium product introductions, advertising investment and endorsements from celebrity chefs.
