UK frozen warehouses acquired by new holding company

Bergen op Zoom, The Netherlands: The two largest frozen warehouses in the UK have been acquired by a newly formed company called Ice Cold Storage Holding BV.

The sites in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire and Gloucester which hold 150,000 pallets at temperatures as low as -28°C were part of a deal that also included Dutch sites at Bergen Op Zoom, Waalwijk, Bodegraven and Ieper in Belgium.

This gives the new company 500,000 pallet spaces in its European network. The new company has taken on the infrastructure and management team from Partner Logistics along with 80% of its pallet capacity and the trade name which it also acquired as part of the deal.

The former Partner Logistics site at Hams Hall, Birmingham was not included in the deal as it is unprofitability,  and as of 21 June is no longer part of the Partner Logistics group. Several former Partner Logistics sites in Europe were also excluded from the deal.

Jon Miles, head of UK operations, Partner Logistics said: “This deal will bring long-term security for our customers, plus stability for all of the Partner Logistics team in the UK. It will ensure that we can continue to focus on providing industry leading levels of quality and service that our customers have come to expect from us. It will also mean that we have a stable base from which to launch any new projects in the UK, when appropriate opportunities arise in the future.”
