Coleshill, Birmingham, UK: Yearsley Group has added an 18,500-sq metre cold store warehouse in the Midlands to improve its service to retailers.
Agent Barton Kendal, acting on behalf of Yearsley, handled the purchase of the automated cold store at the Hams Hall Distribution Park, Coleshill, close to some of the UK’s biggest national distribution centres .
The 42,000 pallet space warehouse will support Yearsley’s existing Midlands depots including Coleshill which is at full capacity, and those at Holmewood and at Belle Eau Park, dedicated to servicing the Brakes Brothers catering contract.
Harry Yearsley, managing director, said: “We are actively looking to grow our business and we have been looking for an
opportunity in the Midlands which would give us greater storage capacity and support the strategic aims of growing our food sales division and servicing a larger retail customer base.
“The location of this cold store could not be better for consolidating stock from around the UK and abroad, and delivering into many of the leading retailers NDCs. Consolidation of stock from manufacturers not only makes for more efficient delivery into major retail and food service organisations, it also contributes to reducing carbon output.”
Yearsley’s national pallet capacity will exceed 320,000 with the addition of Hams Hall. The acquisition comes as Yearsley expands its Heywood headquarters to create a northern superhub increasing capacity by a further 40,000 to 80,000 pallets by next year in anticpation of new contracts.
