London, UK: Transport for London (TfL) has suspended the Congestion Charge and the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) in a bid to help critical workers.
This change will come into effect from today, Monday 23 March. It is being done to help critical workers – especially NHS workers – travel around London and keep the supply chain of supermarkets and other key businesses functioning.
The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, said: “To help our critical workers get to work and for essential deliveries to take place, I have instructed TfL to temporarily suspend the Congestion Charge, ULEZ and Low Emission Zone from Monday.”
Natalie Chapman, head of urban policy at FTA, said: “The suspension of the Congestion Charge and the ULEZ is welcome news for our sector, charged as we are with keeping the capital stocked with the vital supplies it needs in such extraordinary circumstances.
“With unprecedented levels of demand for food, medicines and other commodities, this move will keep the supply chain stable and robust and ensure that London can remain open for business, supporting its residents, its companies and its industry,” she said.
