London, UK: The consultation on temporary changes to the congestion charge fees and hours of operation ends tomorrow (4 June).
Transport for London (TfL) is consulting on temporary increases to the congestion charge and its hours of operation which could be imposed as early as Monday 22 June. It is proposing to increase daily charges to £15 and scrap the £1 AutoPay and fleet discounts. Hours of operation are set to be extended to 07:00-22.00hrs, seven days a week.
TfL stresses that the proposed changes are only temporary. “A proposal to make permanent changes to the congestion charge scheme would be subject to a full public consultation,” says TfL.
Currently the Congestion Charge is an £11.50 daily charge for driving a vehicle within the charging zone between 07:00 and 18:00, Monday to Friday.
The Road Haulage Association is calling on TfL to exempt trucks from the congestion charge as essential road users.
