Zurich, Switzerland: Spar has added an electric MAN rigid to its fleet.
The 360hp e-truck from MAN will transport food from the central warehouse to Spar stores in the Appenzell region and Thurgau.
Spar Switzerland introduced hybrid trucks in 2011. The new e-truck can cover around 180km per charge, depending on the climatic and topographical conditions. The range can be extended with a braking energy recovery.
The e-truck is expected to save 19,000 litres of diesel a year leading to a reduction of 50 tonnes in CO2 emissions.
