Atherstone, UK: Discount supermarket chain Aldi has pledged to develop new and expanded distribution centres over the next two years as it plans to open 100 new stores in the UK.
Aldi plans to build a new 1.3msq ft distribution centre in Leicestershire. The company won planning permission for a warehouse at Nailstone Colliery in west Leicestershire last year.
The supermarket is investing £1.3 billion by 2023 in a bid to further grow its retail estate, as it continues to push ahead with plans to open an average of one new store a week.
It has now released an updated list of some of the locations where it is currently looking for new sites, including cities like York and Coventry, as well as smaller towns such as Bicester and Hitchin.
