Redditch, UK: Oakland International says it has 15 vehicles ready to send to Ukraine this week following its recent appeal.
The company Tweeted: “Thanks for all your support, from volunteering to donations. We would ask that you don’t send any more toys or clothing items for the time being.”
The first truck from Oakland left Dublin last week, full of non-perishable food and medical supplies, bound for the Eastern border of Poland.
The company has pledged to fund up to 50 trucks and drivers to take essential foods, (chilled, frozen and ambient), and called for support from British and Irish food companies to help in the endeavour.
Oakland International chief executive Dean Attwell said the company has been overwhelmed by the support: “Logistically it has been quite challenging. Bit it’s humbling, it restores your faith in human nature.”
