James Hall & Co adds three new Volvo tractors

Preston, UK: James Hall & Co has added three Volvo tractors to its fleet.

The new Volvo Euro 6 tractors are the first at James Hall with an Ecodrive refrigeration system to be introduced to James Hall’s double-decked fleet. The fridges are powered by a generator that is driven by the tractor PTO.

James Hall anticipates an eight-tonne a year reduction of CO2 emissions as a result of the Euro 6 engine and electric refrigeration.

These new tractors follow the acquisition of three new Volvo 18-tonnes with engineless refrigeration systems in June 2021.

Further investment in a greener fleet is planned for later this year and next with the company’s first refrigerated fully-electric articulated trailer as well as more tractors and rigids.

Ian Farnworth, (pictured above right) fleet engineering manager, James Hall & Co, said: “Given that they are amongst our longest-distance vehicles delivering six days a week across the North of England, their improved efficiency and performance will make a considerable difference to our carbon footprint.

James Hall & Co is family owned and provides Spars UK’s primary wholesale distribution for the north of England. It also owns Clayton Park Bakery, Fazila Foods, and the Great Northern Sandwich Company.
