NewCold to create “largest automated cold storage site in the United States”

Lebanon, Indiana, USA: Netherlands-based NewCold, is planning a $150m expansion of its 380,000-square-foot facility at Lebanon Business Park. The company announced initial plans to locate in Lebanon in 2020, with an initial $150m investment, and became operational in the autumn of 2022.

Jonas Swarttouw, NewCold’s executive vice president, and chairman, of North America, said: “This additional investment of more than $150m in Lebanon creates the largest automated cold storage facility in the United States. Aside from the positive economic impact, and high-quality employment opportunities, this strengthens resilience in the food supply chain.”

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. committed $1.65m incentive-based tax credits based on NewCold’s plan to add up to 100 jobs by the end of 2028
“Indiana is the ideal global destination for logistics leaders like NewCold to grow and innovate,” said Ann Lathrop, chief strategy officer at the IEDC.

The expansion is under construction and is expected to be operational in summer 2024. NewCold has two other cold store developments in the United States, one in Tacoma, Washington, and the other in Burley, Idaho.
