Sovereign Speed enters cool sector with Krone

Slough, UK: Sovereign Speed has diversified into the temperature-controlled sector adding a multi-temp’ Cool Liner trailer from Krone to its fleet.

Sovereign Speed is based in Germany, providing express handling services for general and time-sensitive freight in the UK and on the continent.

The Cool Liner can carry most perishable goods including pharmaceutical products. It has Krone’s KSC Pro-plus telematics. Ellis Blackham, business development manager, said: “Real time monitoring and precise temperature control is vital for the correct handling of all temperature sensitive products, especially pharmaceuticals – a sector which we are now able to serve.”

The trailer has an internal clearance of 2.8m, is designed for ferry operation, has a 980mm fifth wheel height, and overall height of 4m for EU operation. A two-tonne capacity, retractable tail lift is also fitted. The trailer has the option to retrofit a roof-mounted solar power system for keeping the batteries charged when disconnected from the tractor.

“This flexibility means we can service routes anywhere in the UK, Ireland and Europe,” Blackham said. “We now run a dedicated Ireland service and operate within T2 transit procedures (where goods maintain EU customs status) and where needed, can connect from key airports with 16 Sovereign Speed stations in Europe, including Ireland and the Nordic states.”
