Rueil Malmaison, France: Carrier Transicold unveiled a retrofit system for vector trailer fridges at the Solutrans trade show in France. The [R]eCool converts existing Vector diesel refrigeration units with E-Drive technology installed on semi-trailers into a 100% electric refrigeration powered by a battery.
The hybrid [R]eCool can also be recharged via the Vector’s generator set. The retrofit solution is also available with the use of a secondhand battery, extending the life of the battery, supporting zero direct emissions and reducing waste.
“Thanks to our 20 plus years of experience of E-Drive electricity generation technology, Carrier Transicold is best positioned to offer this significant innovation,” said Victor Calvo, vice president and general manager, International Truck Trailer, Carrier Transicold.
“[R]eCool enables our existing customers to convert their Vector diesel refrigeration units into a 100% electric, flexible and fully autonomous solution, perfectly suited to the constraints of urban traffic.”
The objectives of the retrofit solution are to remove emissions directly linked to the use of diesel engines in refrigeration systems, including carbon dioxide, hydrocarbons, nitrogen oxides and particulate matter, and to considerably reduce noise emissions, allowing customers’ vehicles to enter low emission zones, Carrier said.
