Easton, UK: Sadel Group has planning permission to build a new factory at its Easton, Lincolnshire, site. The food production areas of the site have been mostly dormant since May 2020, when McCains closed one of its factories.
Beyond retrofitting and refurbishing the existing buildings, Sadel has added a new temperature-controlled warehouse and will transform the site into an automated food hub.
Magnavale, owned by the Sadel Group, is building an automated, 101,000 pallet cold store alongside the new 20,000 sq metre factory. Magnavale’s £130m cold store is due to for completion later this year. It already operates 45,000 pallets of existing cold storage on site.
The food hubs co-locate and integrate food production with temperature-controlled storage, reducing food-miles which in turn enhances shelf-life, and reduces food waste and carbon emissions, Sadel says.
Sadel Group is a Luxembourg-based family owned pan-European investment business in property, logistics, green energy, and the food supply chain.
