The P&M Group raises over £30,000 at charity golf day

Construction leaders and sporting heroes raised more than £30,000 for charity at a golf day hosted by award-winning subcontractor & Cold Chain Federation member The P & M Group.

The Gloucester business held its third annual fundraiser for youth sports and disability charity Lord’s Taverners at The Vale Golf Club in Pershore near Evesham this week.

Cricketing legends Barry Richards and Andy Caddick, alongside former Manchester United star David May, joined leaders from across the cold chain construction sector for the event.

On the course and in an after dinner raffle and auction, attendees raised £34,000 for the Lord’s Taverners charity – a 50 per cent rise from the previous year’s sum.

Contributing sponsors were businesses across the supply chain for the design, construction and maintenance of temperature controlled buildings.

The P & M Group contains composite panel construction specialist ISD Solutions, sister companies PLG Insulations and doors and metal fabricator QuayTherm Manufacturing, as well as a division in Australia and Midlands-based installations specialists Tysoe Holdings.

Group Managing Director Tony Wall is a long-term supporter of Lord’s Taverners, having seen first-hand the benefits of the help the charity provides to disadvantaged children.

“This event is getting bigger and better each year,” he said. “Once again I’m delighted with the amount we’ve raised for this wonderful charity and I’m extremely grateful to our guests, sponsors and donors for their generous gifts of their time and donations.

“We’ve comfortably raised more funds than last year and the event is growing in popularity and renown. We’re looking forward to continuing our relationship with Lord’s Taverners and planning more events over future years.

“Thanks also to the management of this stunning golf course.”

Evening entertainment included speeches from Mr Wall and Mark Curtin, CEO of Lord’s Taverners, before a Q&A session hosted by actor and comedianGordon Kennedy, alongside Barry Richards and David May.

An auction and raffle followed, before prizes for the winning players presented by Andy Moon, chairman of The P & M Group.

Mr Curtin said: “We’ve had another fantastic day on the golf course and we’re grateful for the ongoing support of the P & M Group and in particular Tony who is a huge friend of the charity.

“I’d like to send heartfelt thanks to the attendees, the event sponsors and those who gave so generously in the raffle. The funds raised make a genuinely life-changing impact on the thousands of young people we support who live with a disability or are from disadvantaged backgrounds.

“Our mission is to empower young people to raise their aspirations and reach their potential. Without the support of people like Tony, his colleagues at the P & M Group and his industry contacts, none of this would be possible.”
